Unforuntantly due to other activities i can't afford to go up this year, shame as its so close. However my bro, sis and mum did go up. On friday i did manage to scab my bro's ticket as he was busy doing an exam (good luck to all those doing exams!). I got to check out this years set up and soack up the atmosphere which is electric, i got to buy a redbull t-shirt (you have no idea how long i have been trying!) and got to see Dc's car up close!! As i ony went up on friday it meant i could only catch friday practice which doesn't count towards anything to the actual Grand Prix. The first one was alright but cos we were sitting on the pits straight i didn't get to see DC go past! The second time we sat in Beckets (i didn't like those seats) eating ice cream and this time a lot more action happened, more drivers and a couple spinning off in front of us! This year BMW had a an area called the BMW Sauber F1 Team Pit Lane Park. this was wicked it was a mini area dressed up as a F1 circuit with all the areas you find at a normal circuit, grandstands, control tower, track, pits, team control area's they have along the pits. We met the touring car campion and had our passes signed, took our places in the mini grandstand and watched the bloke driving an F1 car up and down the mini track a couple of times. It was a really nice place to check out, i think the idea is to bring F1 to the real fans instead of the rich and famous who only go cos its cool.!

Bank Hols

                    Bored Cedric Smiling Antony head!

As it was the first bank holiday of May Collectormania invaded the centre of MK shopping centre. Collectormaina is a load of stalls selling mechendise for mostly anything Sci-Fi like Lord Of The Rings, Star Wars, Star Trek there was also loads of WWE stuff and i found a stall that sold cuddy toys. I brough some teddies and my bro brought an Anakin Skywalker lightsaber. As well as the stalls there are celeb's doing signings in the past i have met all of the hobbits from the Lord Of The Rings and loads of people from Harry Potter such as the twins, draco, nevile and seamus. This time i got to meet Antoney Head from Buffy. I asked him to sign my little briatian DVD which has also been signed by Matt Lucus and David Walliams. I also met Cedric form Harry Potter, he was so bored!!

The full Ponty

This may bank holiday i ventured back too Ponty. The event was the Full Ponty. It was a two day festival held in Ponty park under a giant tent. I went down with my mate Jem for the Saturday gig and after a quick drink in Raffles i met up with Lau, Damian, Lou and Chris. Once inside the park there was time to check out the merchendise tent (sadly no Automatic t-shirt) and then hit the bar. I got a Feeder t-shirt (bright pink!) and a GLC one (not one to show the parents!!).The others also brought stuff, the best was seeing Damian in the bright pink feeder t-shirt and the GLC sweat band and seeing the others in the sweat Band! Sadly before reaching the bar i fell over and in true festival style the ground was muddy, lucky it was just one knee!!

We then made our way to the tent to catch The Poppies followed by The Heights. After that The Automatic played, they were wicked and the place went mad when the single monster was played. After them the Delays took to the stage, i don't really know much of there music but thought they were quite good. The it was the turn of GLC, they were wicked as usual and during one song they stripped off to reveal them all wearing matching flourencent tops!!
But the time GLC had finished lou was in the firsat aid tent, to pissed to sit up straight and me and Lau went to visit but this resulted in lau falling backwards in the mud!! Jem had aslo left the tent feeling ill/drunk/to closed in, she then went to get a roll, but this resulted in her being very ill for the rest of the evening, leaving me and Chris to enjoy the rest of the gig. After GLC Feeder hit the stage, it has been a while since i have seen them but they were wicked. They played loads of songs off the new "Hits" album. they then disappeared to return for the encore, then it reached the final song, 'we have one more song to play you' with this the whole crowd started singing, Grant started laughing, the band started strumming along with us, the atmosphere was wicked, Grant then started to sing. We then had to rush back to grab the last train home, sadly for Hayley she was working that night and got a drunken saz running at her!

The next day me and Jem had a trip into Cardiff to catch up with claire and check out her new place, its a really nice place and i'm very envious, i want one!! The on Monday it was time to make the mamouth trip home, but it only took us 8 hours, oh well its how these things go!!

a few days off part 2

Thursday we decide to head upto the track and check out the F1 testing. This is when a few F1 teams land in Silverstone to test. The teams included Mcclaren, Red Bull, Renult, Williams, Midland. It is free to go up so being a local with a day to spare though i'd check it out. It was really good and there was a lot more grid action then i thought there would be, even got to see DC complete a couple of laps!! It wasn't a good start, we got to northamton station and the train was cancelled (how does it only happen when i use public transport). Once we had arrive we got there in time to see Graham Coxon. I wasn't looking forward to him to much at reading he didn't have much stage presence but i have to say the boy done good, he rocked!
After this i headed to the bar and to get a t-shirt, sadly all t-shirts had sold out except XL, what is that all about?
Back to the gang loaded with drinks and just in time for the Kaiser's verson of caravan of love to be played before they came on. Lights down and the music satrted up but the red curtain with K C on still closed, then the stage lights come on lighting up the red curtain, it opens and the band bang out Everyday i love you less and less, the crowd goes mad bouncing up and down. Half way through the perforamnce we lose Ricky, he then pops up standing on the music enginers bit in the middle of the arena, messes with the crowd getting them to put there hands up and down while nicky commentates. He then belts out a slow one before once again disappearing and reapperaing on stage. It was a wicked night with old fav's i predict a riot and a few new ones thrown in for good measure, can't wait for reading!!

Not much going on........

Bout time i updated, not that theere much to say. I've been down to Cheltenham last week. We went to pick my sis up from uni, it was nice to have a nosey around a new place. i got to check out a couple of record shops and a shop called Cult, must be nationwide but i haven't seen one before, needless to say it ended up costing me a lot on money!!!

I have also got some stuff planned for the summer, I have (after a lot of tearing my hair out) got tickets for V and Reading festival so no repeat disaster of last years ebay!!! So much stupid drunken dancing to cool bands over the summer, v excited about it all!

I have also got my summer holiday with the girls booked (well Lau booked it!). We (me, lau, rach and hayley) are off to Falaraki (hope you know where i mean even though i can't spell it) for a week to cause some trouble!! Hope to come back alive although like last year i'm sure the girls will try killing me! Just hope that we have a wicked time over there and come back with many stories to tell ;-)

I'm also going down to ponty to a music festival!!! I'm only going for one day but i hope it will be a good un with Feeder, GLC, The Automatic and The Heights playing as well as others. I hope to see some old friends there, it would be a cool excuse for a reunion back in the valleys, music beer and friends, good kick off to the summer!!!
I'll try and put some osts up after the events

Something for the weekend

Instead of the usual weekend in with casualty i went out!!
On firday night me and Ed went to see Jimmy Carr. I'm not a big fan but he wanted to go for his birthday so i got him a ticket. It was held in a place called The Deco, it used to be an old cinema in Northampton but it closed down then the Jesus Army brought it and did it up. Cue lots of jokes about doing stand up containing alot of offensive material in a venue run by the Jesus Army, would only happen in Northampton!! I actually had quite a good time and laughed alot (always good with a stand up comic!!)

Jenna, Jemma, Becca and Gareth trying to hide!!!
Then on Saturday i went out to Northampton for Jemma's birthday (happy birthday for Thursday Jem) with 3 of Jems uni friends Jenna, Beca and her boyfriend. there was supose to be loads of his friends coming as well to celebrate hi birthday but they pulled out at the last moment. It was strange as i haven't been out in Northampton since i was 18 but it was a better night and i suddenly noticed the Northampton student population!! We started in lloyds bar (cheap drinks and music!) then went to the vodka bar (always gonna be messy!) and then onto Lava/Ignite which in my day was called Time and Envy. I got very drunk and had a good night!

The Automatic

Jem and her future husband, watch this space for the wedding pics!!!

In contrast to thursday evenings entertainment it was my turn to choice the night out, oh dear. We ended up going to the Soundhaus to see The Automatic. We arrived to sign up to The Automatic mailing list and got a sticker for our trouble. We then hit the bar to be IDed informed that it is an 14's night (do i really only look 14!!!). We then caught a couple of songs by the support act The Marshals (from Dublin, i'm in heaven Irish boys in a band!) i thought that they were good however jem wasn't impressed and i though that my choice was not going down to well. The Automatics were on and i really enjoyed the gig, and Jem enjoyed them too. She fell in love with the drummer and think he has no choice in becoming her husband! Although talking to him he seems really nice so maybe a good choice Jem!! I grabbed him and got my CD signed i later got pennie to sign it, we then got threatened to be thrown out but i managed to get "backstage" and get the gutarist and bassest/main singer to also sign it. On the way out we put our autographs on the marshals mailing list and then home. the Marshals single out on the 6th March and look out for the Automatcs singlr out later this month and the album out in June, recommended.

Starlight express

On thursday me and Jem went to theater to see Starlight Express (how very grown up). We started the evening my having a mckeyd's (ok not so grown up). then made our way to the theater, brought the usual merchendise and nibbles and took our seats. It was really good, i didn't really know what to expect form a musical about trains having a race but i was really impressed, we even had ice cream in the interval!!! I arrived after having a quick look around London to find a slightly out of breathe Stewart (he had run to the station to meet me!). When we arrived at his place he gave me the guided tour, its an amazing ground floor one bedroom flat with his own private garden and basement. After being there a while his mates Cheecky, Kewi and Mark popped around with Stewarts flatemates, four rats!(he is only having 2 cos Cheecky and Kewi are gonna have 2). As yet only one has a name, cleo.

On saturday night we Stewart had the house party. I had quite alot of alcohol, which mixed with no food and not drinking for a long time equals a saz in a not to good state. After chatting to Stewarts mate, who are really nice people, and drinking to much i reached the state to pass out!

Next morning waking up in a place i didn't recognise with a banging headach and feeling rough i knew it wasn't gonna be a good day!! Stewart made be food, which made me feel alot more human then we went for a walk on the beach.
On the way back we called in on Stewarts friends Beth and Jez and we meet there guine pigs treacle and dash. We collected chinese on the way home. After eating this i felt human again and we wnet a collected a sofa from a friend of Stewarts who lived a couple of doors down. once this was installed in the living room it was time for me to say goodbye and catch the train back to London. Dispite feeling crap when i woke up i had a really good day and really enjoyed the weekend. portmouth was really cool and Stewarts friends are nice people. thank you for having me i had a wicked time.

The Crimea

Last night i went to see The Crimea at the soundhaus with Ed and Allan. We got there in time to catch the end of one of the support groups, don't know who either clearlake or marlon singer!! it was a completly different atmosphere to the last time we saw them. The last time there were about 10 people in the audiance and this time it was a sell out crowd, what a difference a few months makes!! The set included a few new songs which were really good deffo worth a look out for in the future. During opposite ends Davey jumped into the crowd, he did this last time but it was a bit more crwoed this time!!! After the gig we started talking to the keyboard player, Andrew i think, and he was saying that the next album may be out later this year/next year as a few songs are already ready. They have changed the album cover cos the one with water (first release) looks too much like the Starsailor album cover. Also they are playing a couple of festivals this year, these are V, Oxygen and Wireless, you heard it hear first!!! then went on to meet the rest of the band (including davey this time, missed him last time!!) to sign my vinyl. if you have a chance to check them out i recommend them

Cardiff

Last weekend i descended on the valleys! I got off the train in Cardiff and decided to get a drink from Spar and bumped into Dec, this was a nice surprise as its always nice to see a friendly face! once in the valleys i was faced with 2 drunken people!!! they contiued to get drunker till the end of the night when Damian suddenly seemed more sober, suppose it was because he was faced with the challenge of getting Lau home in one piece. When we arrived at lau's it was nice to see Hayley waiting for us, not so nice to find out that we didn't have a key to get in!! After waking up the street we finnally reliased that Chris may be in!!! Next day we went for food at Frankie and benny's, last time i was there it was for pigeon's birthday so it brought back alot of happy memories. We then went bowling followed by a trip to Macky D's (i didn't eat anything, it was for Katie, lau's cousin) then back home. We dropped katie back to lau's aunts and had a cuppa when tim phone. it was nice to speak to him, i miss everyone so much. Next day a trip back down the valley's and past my old house, really wanted to go in and everything to be back to how it used to be but times have changed and i suppose i have to move on, don't want to though!!
I just wanna say a huge thank you to lau, Hayley and her family for having me and putting me up. i had a really good time and it helped alot, but we will have to do it again sometime really soon to save me!!

lost phone

Just a quick note to say that i have left my phone on a train, and it hasn't made it to lost property so some bastard has had it. So on 27th october me Ed and his mate Alan went along. We went into the Sounddhaus and in the merchanise bit were 2 blokes seeling the stuff and one started asking me about my space and had i seen the band before and what i thought of reading, later learnt these blokes were out of the band (i'm a bit slow on the uptake). We went in and the street team got us to sign up and in return we got a lottery ticket. The Crimea were supported by The Heights once they had finished The Crimea came on. There weren't many people there and we were in a strange semi circle around the edge of the room so the singer stood in the middle of this on the floor for the first song. Then beckoned us nearer for the rest of the gig. The stage looked really nice with icecle lights and during lottery winners on acid a bubble machine started. At the end of the gig the lottery numbers were read out, after not winning (no chance there then!) i stole a couple of posters and got them signed. It was a strange but very good night, i look forward to seeing them agian sound, i hope.

Blackpool

having only been at wrk for 2 days it was time to go back to Wales. The train journey was a nightmare and ended up getting into Newport at some ridiculas time, to be met by lau and Hayley. After just a few hours sleep it was time to get up and get the coach to Blackpool. We pilled on and made the long trip up north. That night we went out dressed in our 999 outfits. The next night the theme was 70's. Everyone had made a good effort with this one (except me!) and even out driver Ryan joined in dressed as a pimp!!. This night i had a wicked time, we even enjoyed ourselves in Flares and then found a cool little club where i went drunken crazy!! We had way to much to drink and the next day i was suffering really badly, i've turned into a lightweight, shameful. Sunday was spent chilling out and feeling sorry for ourselves, although we did go for a wonder around and i got to see the donkeys!! and monday we travelled home. It was a weekend i wont forget but i think that next time we'll ahve to go somewhere else.

Subways

Feeling rough after the 70's party we had to return to Northampton, this was a stuggle as i felt really ill and had no sleep. We arrived at the Roadmender and put our bags into the clockroom and looked up and it was Mel from uni taking our bags, it was nice to see a familiar face. We went in to catch the support act The Rifles, they were really good and got the room going. the Subways came on and the place went mad and hard to believe that it went even more crazy for rock and roll queen.

Groovy Birthday

On saturday 8th October i ventured back to the Valleys for Lau's mums birthday. After panic buying my fancy dress (it was 70's themed) i returned to Trefforest and met up with Tim and Pidgeon, payed a visit to James and then got picked up by Nome and travelled up to Treorchi for the party. We arrived at Lau's where Helen and Doug joined up and rach was there already. We got ready and helped the boys, Stevo, Tim, Pidgeon and Doug get into their Kiss outfits and helped out with their make-up!!
We then went to the Rugby club for the party, it was a wicked night and really good to catch up with everyone again, i miss you all

Stereophonics

Headed back to Cardiff on the 26th to see the Stereophonics at the CIA. First i met up with Claire for a drink and a quick catch up, then at about 7 I headed over to the CIA, arriving just in time to catch the Dead 60's. They were amazing as ever, but i can't help but think that they are a strange choice of support band for Stereophonics. Then the Stereophonics were on, they were really good, on eof the hightlights was the story told by Kelly Jones just before singing Bartender and the Thief. It informed me that he couldn't fulfill his order. but in the end Lau and Stevo came through for me a provided me with a ticket, cheers guys. Sadly the same thing also happened to Tim, Pidge and James but they weren't lucky enough to get another ticket. On Thursday i finished work, had a shower, packed my bag and off i went to the festival. It was really muddy on arrival and the forecast for the weekend was grim so was expecting another glasto. However the weather held off and in the end sunday was an amazing day! Had a wicked time at the festival saw loads of band including The Dead 60's, The Killers, Crimea, Foo Fighters, Iron Madian, The Futureheads (also met these and have a signed t-shirt!) Hot Hot Heat, Arcade Fire, Charlotte Hatherly (out of Ash) Biffy Clyro ect. As dedicated followers of F1 myself, Steve, Vicky, Ed and mum went to watch the event. On friday and saturday we had passes that allowed us to go anywhere around the circuit (except in the middle, on the tracks and in the pits!) so for both days we pottered around watching the various races and qualifying that went on over the 2 days. Around the outside of the track there were loads of stalls selling different F1 merchandise. However there was only one place to perchase red bull stuff which was a bit annoying because i support the driver David Coulthard who drives for that team. On that stall i really liked a t-shirt but was told that they had sold out this was only lunch time friday!

On sunday was the race, we all sat in Farm and had a really good view of the track but it is really hard to keep up with what is going on and what postion everyone was in. In all 19 out of 20 cars finished which was a really good result. After the race there was a concert put on. it was really nice weather sitting on the grass chilling with a beer and watching F1 drivers on stage chatting to Tony Jardin and Murry Walker and watching some music supplied by the son of a bloke out of Status Quo and Jools Holland and his band and special guests. The only bad thing about the weekend is that i now have the most burnt nose you have ever seen, this is sun/wind burn on a whole new level!!!!

Coldplay

On Tuesday 28th June Steve and myself took another trip to London. We visited some cool record shops and visited Camden market. Then it was time to get to Crystel Palace for the main event. The support acts were Morning Runner followed by Interpol. I quite enjoyed Morning Runner however I didn't think too much to Interpol, they didn't seem to have any energy about them and looked like they would have preferred to be down the pub. This wasn't helped by the weather, which was nice and warm but unfourtunately kept pissing it down. At 9 Coldplay came on stage. They were amazing singing songs from all albums and the rain didn't dampen anybodies spirits and the lightening going on in the skies all around the stadium added to the atmospher and the crowd singing back the hits such as clocks. A brilliant gig, well worth the trip!

The Dead 60's

On Sunday Vicky, Steve and myself went to see The Dead 60's at the Northampton Soundhaus supported by The Kooks. After feeling our way to the bar (it was very dark in there) we found our spot in the small venue. The Kooks were good so worth looking out for again. Once they were packed away and the The Dead 60's stuff was in place the sirens started up and they took to the stage. They played tracks from their album including Riot Radio (at which point the place went mad!) then off for a rest and then back for the encore including Last Resort. After the gig the usual scramble for free stuff off the stage I spoke to Ben (a friend from uni who happends to work there!!) and he very kindly let me go "backstage" to meet the band and I got my vinyl signed, yay!! It kicked off at 5pm with Hard-fi playing in front of 65,000 people, after that Taking back sunday took to the stage followed by Jimmy eat world. Then at 9pm Greenday kicked off their set with American Idiot and including hits such as Wake me up when september ends, Basket case,Minority, Holiday, Jesus of suburbia and the encore included Boulevard of broken dreams, We are the champions and ended the show with Good Riddance and loads of really nice fireworks. The show also had a cover of shout and featured Billie Joe getting members of the audience to play guitars, bass and drums and after telling the guitar player that he sucked he told him he could keep the guitar. Billie Joe also took out his super soaker and went to work on the audience before picking a little boy out of the audience to help him. The show was amazing and i would defo try and catch a show if they are to gig again over here.

The Departure

While i have been away something has happened to Northampton and one of those things is that a band has emerged called The Departure. On Wednesday they were in Northampton Virgin Megastores to mark the relesase of their new album Dirty Words with a signing so me and Steve popped along to say hi and get our vinyl singles signed (however they didn't have the album on vinyl in stock) and Steve brought me the album (which is quite good). The signing was followed by an intimate gig in Northamptons Black Bottom Club which was really good.

Weezer rocks London

Stevo came down to visit me on Monday and stayed for a week. On Tuesday 14th June we ventured into London. We visited Oxford Street HMV and Virgin Megastores, we then stumbled across Tottenham Court Road which was ace cos we got to look around loads of really ace music shops selling every type of guitar or bass, including a really cool purple one!! Then we travelled to Brixton and stopped off in Weatherspoons for a well needed drink or 2. Once the drinks had been drunk we went to our final destination, Carling Brixton Academy to see Weezer. This was an amazing gig which seemed to only last for about 2 songs. The set included old songs Hash Pipe, Buddy Holly, Island in the Sun, Photograph and songs from the new album such as Beverly Hills. The place went mad when the =w= sign came down and lit up and everyone in the crowd then went on to do there own =w=!!! The set ended, th bass played shock the hands of some of the audience and River just went round the edge of the stage with his hands in the air, man of many words. I would recommend anyone who gets the chance to see weezer should defo go for it, they rock.

Holiday!

Sunny Malia
Hi. I have been back from Malia for a week and 3 days so i thought that it was time for a holiday post! The taxi picked us up at 6pm on friday 3rd June, we arrived at the airport picked up our tickets and checked in, then to the bar to celebrate!

View from our rooms window

Saturday: After arriving at the hotel at about 7am it was time for a quick kip then to the welcome meeting at 11am. When that was finished we had a quick look around, had t-shirts printed, sat by the pool (v nice!!)and then back to bed for some more sleep before going out. At about 8pm we were ready and went to Lau and Rach's room for Cup of Death. The 2 boys (Chris and James) the girls had asked to open the vodka also joined us. Once one game had finished we hit the town till god knows what time, after losing Lau and Rach me and Hayley found a nice Irish bar which we sat in for hours with our free beers!!!

Sunday: Today was Lau's birthday YAY!!! However i felt rough, after spending the morning in bed a trip to the pool was made and then we went to the beach where lau managed to get us free sunbeds "cos its my birthday". We then went for dinner, a really nice greek resturant was found and dinner choices were made, what a mistake, it was the worst food i have had in years and didn't help my hangover. We then went out for lau's birthday wearing hula outfits (luckly i have no pics of this, i looked silly!!). But after a few it was decided to go back and have an early one (crawling into bed at 2am!)

Monday: All set to go today, up for breakfast at 10am and a day by the pool catching some rays. Then out for the night. We had a wicked night but at somepoint (about 4am) me and Hayley called it a night and went to McDonalds for a well needed burger before the long walk home.

Tuesday: Again was all ready to go, me and Hayley went for a good look around the shops today while Lau and Rach stayed by the pool. We then went back to a quick kip before heading out for food and then a few drinks. At some point me and Hayley lost Lau and Rach (think they called it a night) and we decided to check out the 24 hour bar. There we meet 2 lads, one called Steve and one was a footballer from Strafford (with bad shorts) they informed us that Keiren Dyer and some other England footballer were also in the bar (i didn't see them). Then an Italian/Greek man introduced himself and brought us drinks but we did manage to shack him off and go home!

Wednesday: We went for food and decided to go down the side street in Malia that then joins with the main street half way down. We went to several bars enjoying drinks in each however i wasn't feeling to good (not sure if it was the food). We ended up in a club called music factory after a few in here me and Hayley decided to leave leaving Lau and Rach to boogie the night away. On the way home we poped in to the loft for a quiet one after a while we spotted Rach and Lau going home, so our quiet one turned into loads of quiet ones on the house, ace!!!After too many i decided to go home and leave Hayley to it, good idea cos i had had too many and got back to the appartment and was very sick!!!

Thursday: Today i was feeling very ill!!! I didn't get out of bed until 6pm. Me and Hayley then went for some dinner, which was very nice but i felt very ill! We then decided to go exploring a street on the right of the crossroads, thinking we would walk along then go left then end up on the main road go left again and end up at the hotel. However we walked for miles, found the first left turn and discovered that this did indeed take us to the main road, the motorway umm. So after we had walked miles out of our way we turned round and went back, stopping for a drink and ice cream on the way.

Friday :Woke up by Lau wanting a haven from Rach! Packed our bags and were out of the room by 12noon. Spent the day by the pool, then went for food and shopping. picked up by the bus to the airport at 2.20am. Some of the boys that were staying at the hotel had a panic just before there bus picked them up. One of the boys passport had been stolen.
